Volcano Coast Safari - 45 Min Flight

Tour ID: SAFH-01

Duration: 45 minute Flight
Location: Hilo, Big Island
Departs from: Commuter Terminal - Hilo Airport, Hilo

Hawaii is a land formed by volcanos. There is creation of new land continually. Discover the fiery magma of Hilo, Hawaii (the Big Island) on the Volcano Coast Safari flight. View hot magma, smoke plumes and lava eruptions spurting into the air creating more island.

Five volcanoes have created this 4,038 square mile Big Island of Hawaii. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was established in 1916. See the historical creation of land right before your eyes. Find black lava deserts showing past lava flows. It is possible that you will see active volcanic surface flows, molten rock sprays, and tremendous plumes of steam from the violent collision of hot molten lava and cold ocean water. This lava is dramatic and spectacular and the volcanic eruption is truly a powerful force of nature. Madame Pele is the Hawaiian Goddess of Fire and Volcanoes. She was chased from Tahiti because her father said that she had a HOT temper. It is said that Pele's spirit lives in the Kilauea Volcano (one of the most active volcanoes on earth). Pele is still known for her violent temper. Some people say that if any visitors take her volcanic rock (lava), she puts a curse on them. Perhaps the lava vents are Pele expressing herself - is she in a playful or angry mood today?

The Volcano Coast Safari offers you views of the Kilauea Volcanic System. Watch hot red lava flowing from black molten rock. Searing temperatures are too hot to feel up close. Check out the Lava Tree Forest, where the volcano leaves death and destruction while creating new land. See the Pu'u O'o vent and all of its power. The magma creates black sand beaches. You can take pictures of the Kilauea Kaldera. View areas only accessible by air. Trust in these professional helicopter pilots and check out their certifications and bona fides. Air-conditioned helicopters are available for the customer's comfort. Tune your MP3 player to "Earth, Wind, and Fire" to get into the mood. There are video systems that can capture your experience.

The 45-minute Volcano Safari Tour is not recommended for children under two years old or below 25lbs (11 kgs). Tourists over 250lbs (113 kgs) might require a special seat. Six helicopter passengers are allowed. Weight restrictions may apply for total passenger helicopter weight.

A combination of clothes might be the best option, because the wind can be cold but the volcano is hot. Other items to bring include sunglasses and sunscreen. Front and window seats are the best. It is wise to book early into the vacation, since bad weather might lead to cancellation.

The Volcano Coast Safari Flight leaves from the commuter terminal at the Hilo Airport, Hilo, Hawaii. Flight times can be arranged when booking the tour. Every day land is being destroyed and created on Hawaii, so take the Volcano Coast Safari 45 minute Flight to view this impressive natural process.
