The Hawaii Experience 2 Hour Flight
Tour ID: BPHH-02
Duration: 2 hour flight
Location: Big Island
Departs from: Kona Airport
Five volcanoes, beautiful mountain -scapes, amazing white and black sand beaches, hundreds of waterfalls, 2,000' valley walls, breathtaking coastlines and 11 different climate zones -- this is what we call the Hawai'i Experience! Don't miss this chance of a lifetime to immerse yourself in the beauty of one of the most spectacular places on earth. It's impossible to see all of these sites from the ground, but by air, in 1.5-2 hours, you can get the full island experience and feel the awesome grandeur of the Island of Hawai'i, the Big Island!
Your tour begins at Kona airport, where you relax in style in a comfortable lounge as your pilot briefs you about history and geography of the Big Island. Then you board the luxurious limo style helicopter with spacious executive seating. From the helicopter's oversized windows, you enjoy a view like no other as you ascend either Hualalai or Captain Cook to observe active shield volcano Kilauea and its massive caldera and lava fields. Although Kilauea rarely spouts a lava flow, you may be lucky enough to observe steam or gas that occasionally leaks from the volcano, reminding us that it is still simmering with activity deep beneath the quiet surface. It's no surprise that Kilauea is the most active volcano in the world. The indigenous Hawaiians believe that it is home to Pele, goddess of volcanoes.
Next your pilot guides you through Hamakua Coast leading into Waimanu Valley, an ethereal landscape bordered by verdant rainforests, and Waihilau Falls, the highest waterfall in the U.S. This waterfall-dominated landscape was formed by a combination of extremely high rainfall and fragile erosional cliffs that over a long period of time etched out numerous stream valleys.
Finally, you tour the Kona Coast area with its eponymous coffee fields lined by deep azure waters. Kona coffee is one of the most famous cultivars of coffee in the world, thanks to the rich volcanic soil of the Kona Coast. The Kona Coast is also famous for its beautiful waters and plentiful fishing which have resulted in the proliferation of many extravagant resort areas along the waterside.
