Pearl Harbor & USS Missouri Tour - From Big Island
Tour ID: BPAT-01
Duration: 11-12 hours
Location: Oahu tour from the Big Island
Departs from: Kona Airport
This historic Oahu tour from the Big Island will take you on a memorable journey from the site of the attack on Pearl Harbor to the signing of the Japanese surrender on the USS Missouri. At Pearl Harbor you will watch a 20-minute film with actual footage from that fateful day. You will also board the Navy launch for a trip into history across Pearl Harbor to the Arizona Memorial.
Explore the USS Missouri, the last battleship built by the US Navy, which served from World War II through Desert Storm. The Missouri was the site of the 1945 Japanese surrender to the Allies. Your journey continues with a drive through the historic attractions of downtown Honolulu including Iolani Palace (the only royal palace on American soil), Kawaiahao Church, State Library and Archives, the famous statue of King Kamehameha, Honolulu Hale, and the Mission Houses Museum. Your tour concludes with a drive through Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific and Courts of the Missing.
When visiting it is important to remember a few details. Shirt and shoes are required to board the Arizona Memorial and swimsuits are not permitted. Also bags of any sort, including purses and diaper bags, are not allowed on site. This new security rule was put in place after the tragedy of September 11, 2001 and is still enforced, so it is important that a visitor limit the amount of items they carry. A camera is allowed on site, but not a camera bag.
