Hawaii Volcano Adventure - Big Island

Tour ID: BPAT-04
Location: Hilo, Big Island
Duration: 9 Hours
Departs from: most major Hilo hotels and Hilo Airport

The beautiful islands of Hawaii were formed by these volcanoes and their recent eruptions have fascinated people worldwide. Many tourists from all over the world make it a point to visit these world wonders when they are on the island. The serene landscapes that are rarely seen elsewhere make for a great adventure that everyone in the family will love and remember.

Volcanoes National Park is not a park that you can wander around by yourself. It is also more enjoyable with one of our trained and knowledgeable tour guides. These tour guides will show you the best spots and breathtaking views. Some highlights that many adventurers like are the beautiful waterfalls, Thurston lava tubes, and just exploring Volcanoes National Park. The Hawaii Volcano Adventure is a day long tour that will take you through the best parts of the Big Island. From Black Sand Beach to the Jaggar Museum, you will be able to see and enjoy it all. The personable tour guides are also there to answer any questions you may have.

This tour requires that you wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Anyone with respiratory conditions are discouraged since there are exposure to fumes. This adventure is not for the faint of heart or for those who are easily tired. Young children are also discouraged from joining the adventure as the nine-hour hike may prove too much for them. There is a chance that you may see active lava flow. The chance is there but we cannot predict whether we are at the right place at the right time. Our tour guides will make sure everyone is ready to have a great time but will also keep you very safe as this is an active volcano.

So if you're up to see the volcanoes up close and personal, sign up for Hawaii Volcano Adventure on the Big Island. The terrain and features that the volcanoes have created, such as the lava tubes and black sand beaches, are truly sights not to be missed. This is one adventure that you will not soon forget!

Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes as this tour traverses sharp, uneven lava surfaces. We discourage young children, passengers with asthma, or other respiratory conditions to avoid potential health problems due to exposure to fumes. All passengers are required to sign a release of liability form. We cannot predict weather or lava viewing conditions. Lava viewing features can change hourly. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE SIGHTING OF ACTIVE LAVA FLOWS. Surface lava may be present but may not be viewable due to environmental conditions or time constraints. When lava enters the ocean, intense heat can produce a plume cloud with dangerous and potentially life threatening toxic gases, super heated steam and hydrochloric acid. Airborne particles are a hazard to your eyes and lungs. Leave area at once. If inland flows are present and you use caution you may have an opportunity to view fresh lava up close. Follow marked routes and your guides instructions. Molten lava is 2000 degrees F. Keep a safe distance and never go into areas where your escape route may be cut off. Do not throw objects into lava as this can cause burns from spattering lava or eye injuries from airborne volcanic glass. BE AWARE, STAY ALERT, USE CAUTION, DO NOT TAKE CHANCES.

Operates daily. Some features may be closed on Christmas, New Year's Day or Thanksgiving.
